January Guild Meeting – January 4th, 2020

Our Program Presenter is Lynn Moody, a member of Central Coast Weavers and co-owner of the Blue Oak Canyon Ranch near San Miquel. Lynn and her husband raise heritage breeds of Santa Cruz Island and Navajo-Churro sheep. They also raise llamas, heritage Narragansett turkeys and chickens. Their ranch is a producer for the Fibershed program, which was launched in 2010 to “develop regional and regenerative fiber systems on behalf of independent working producers”. During the last 9 years the Fibershed program has expanded to various regions throughout the workd and emphasizes the use of regionally grown fibers, natural dyes and local talent in the production of clothing. Lynn, a retired Cal Poly college professor, previously taught soil science, geology and earth science. She will talk about the Fibershed program and how her ranch is contributing and participating in this program.

This meeting is back at the Valle Verde meeting room. (900 Calle de los Amigos, Santa Barbara)
