2025 past events

May

In May we had a delightfully comprehensive presentation from member Kathy Neely about her experience at the Handweavers Guild of America’s biannual Convergence conference in 2024. The presentation included a vibrant slideshow, descriptions of the techniques learned in a variety of workshops, and a hands-on display of pieces Kathy made and acquired from artist vendors.

April

In April we heard from members (Agnes and Andrew) who each received scholarships for workshops they took. This is their opportunity to teach us about what they learned.

March

In March we learned about the Red Dress project through a virtual program by artist Kirstie Macleod. Learn more about this artist and her project: https://reddressembroidery.com/

We also took a field trip down to LA to visit the conservation labs at LACMA.

January and February

We began the year by looking inward, at work we may have neglected but still see potential in if we could only devote a little bit of time and fresh energy. We reflected and focused on the possibilities. To help us each see with fresh eyes; we brought the work in to share with other members.

This is a two-part program allowed us to bring the work back in February to show any progress made. A Legacy Stitch Circle small group was formed by members who aligned on the topic through these events. We hope to organize more themed circles in the future!

In the next few months, we hope to have an evening event downtown at the new knit shop as well as its neighbor, Domicile. Both owners are guild members.
